How many ACUs are there?

Becoming an AVID Certified User (ACU) is no mean feat. The test is extremely difficult and most don't pass on their first try.

So how many have earned AVID Certified User status?
As of March, 2009, in California, there were only 47 - FORTYSEVEN! - AVID Certified Users. Throughout the world, there were under 200 AVID Certified Users.

So, yeah, I'm kind of a BIG deal...

AVID Certified User (A.C.U.)

So what's the big deal?

Why is being an AVID Certified User (ACU) such a big deal. There are two reasons:

First, AVID Media Composer and Nitris are a complex orchestration of software and hardware. Because of the exacting demands of film and broadcast television, Media Composer must be able to manage huge amounts of media in various formats and deliver the final sequence for broadcast. Harnessing this complex orchestration requires the knowledge of how Media Composer functions and the skill to use that knowledge quickly and efficiently. An ACU has objectively demonstrated the level of knowledge and skill that allows him to focus on the most important thing - editing.

Secondly, many editors have learned how to use the AVID Media Composer thru on the job training. Too often, editors know the basics and even little beyond. However, an ACU's knowledge allows her to "dreamscape" edits, effects and looks and execute them efficiently. This means greater creativity and flexibility for your production.

The bottom line is simple - An AVID Certified User knows how to get the most out of the of editing suite and does so quickly and efficently.

Maximum creativity + maximum efficiency = An excellent product with little waste.
